Field Day Festival
On Saturday, I (erroneously) donned some neon-soled Hunters (the day turned out to be blissfully sunny) and marched along to Field Day in Victoria Park.
The festival used to be a little more DJ and dance oriented, but has since become a hipster paradise, and this year had the sickest line up we’re likely to see at a UK festival this year.
It felt like Coachella hit E2, but with less sun, more booze, and a few awkward sound issues. Nonetheless, the day kicked off with the excellent Savages- all 80s and girl power, before we sang along with Citizens!, danced our way through Django Django, craned our necks to see Jessie Ware, had our souls healed by Kindness, got claustrophobia with Grimes, threw our arms around like lunatics to SBTRKT, and ended the night with the glorious Beirut.
Along the way, we had to sacrifice: Sleigh Bells, Metronomy, Friends, Chairlift…too many excellent bands, too little time, but that’s the way it should be.
1000 bands (ish), 1000 cool points
