Purity Ring ‘Obedear’
Unfortunately, my slightly stunted level of maturity along with my Britishness means that my initial reaction to this track was: ‘I don’t know if I can handle Purity Ring being the name of a band’, but once I’d got past that, I can confirm that this is a wonderful track. Purity Ring are a Canadian duo signed to 4AD, who can be found on basically any music blog written since the dawn of 2012, and were one of Pitchfork’s ones to watch at this year’s SXSW. Their sexy brand of electro pop can be loosely filed somewhere next to Grimes, if you’re into genre segregation, but only if your music filing system isn’t overly strict and regimentally categorized. If it is, get out more.
